Karmine Corp, Sentinels, Team Heretics and Gen.G Esports become the last participants of the EWC 2025 playoffs
The third day of the Esports World Cup 2025 has concluded, where the last participants of the playoffs were determined.
At 11:00 CEST, matches took place between Karmine Corp against Bilibili Gaming and Sentinels against DRX. Karmine Corp secured a victory over Bilibili Gaming with a score of 2:1. They started the series confidently, playing the first map perfectly, faltered a bit on the second, but managed to finish the game in their favor on the third. Bilibili Gaming exit the tournament, taking 9th–12th place and earning $25,000. Karmine Corp advance to the playoffs, where they will meet Fnatic on July 11 at 11:00 CEST.
Meanwhile, Sentinels crushed DRX with a score of 2:0. Changes in the Korean roster once again did not meet expectations. On both maps, Sentinels demonstrated a high level, not giving the opponent a chance for a third map. DRX exit the tournament, taking 9th–12th place with prize money of $25,000. Sentinels continue their journey in the tournament, with their next opponent being Paper Rex.
At 14:15 CEST, matches took place between Team Heretics against Rex Regum Qeon and Gen.G Esports against EDward Gaming. Team Heretics are starting to regain their form, confidently defeating Rex Regum Qeon with a score of 2:0. On the first map, the European team left no chances for the opponent, and finished the second with a minimal advantage. Rex Regum Qeon exit the tournament, taking 9th–12th place and earning $25,000. Team Heretics continue the fight and will meet BBL Esports.
At the same time, Gen.G Esports defeated EDward Gaming with a score of 2:0. Both maps were won without much difficulty, but on the second, the Korean team especially played well, showing complete superiority over the opponent. EDward Gaming exit the tournament, taking 9th–12th place with prize money of $25,000. Gen.G Esports advance to the playoffs, where they will compete with NRG for a place in the semifinals.
Esports World Cup 2025 takes place from July 8 to 13 in Riyadh, at Boulevard Riyadh City. The tournament features 16 teams: four from each region — two from VCT 2025 Stage 1 and two from additional qualification. The prize pool is $1,250,000.
