G2 Esports, XLG Esports, TEC and 100 Thieves leave EWC 2025

The second day of Esports World Cup 2025 has ended, and we have seen the first eliminated participants of the tournament.

At 11:00 CEST, two elimination matches took place: G2 Esports against Bilibili Gaming and Sentinels against XLG Esports. Bilibili Gaming secured a victory over G2 Esports with a score of 2:1, likely aided by the absence of Nathan leaf Orf due to health issues. G2 Esports leave the tournament, finishing in 13th–16th place and receiving $15,000 in prize money. Bilibili Gaming continue the fight and will face Karmine Corp on July 10 at 11:00 CEST for a playoff spot.

Sentinels, in turn, defeated XLG Esports with a score of 2:1, though not without difficulty. The Chinese team played with a substitute due to issues with the arrival of newcomer James NoMan Man. XLG Esports also conclude their performance in 13th–16th place, taking $15,000. Sentinels continue the fight for the playoffs and will meet DRX on July 10 at 11:00 CEST.

Later, no less intense matches started: Team Heretics against Titan Esports Club and EDward Gaming against 100 Thieves. Team Heretics started the series unsuccessfully, losing the first map and almost losing the second, but managed to turn the game around and win with a score of 2:1. Titan Esports Club leave the tournament in 13th–16th place with $15,000 in prize money. Team Heretics advance further and will face Rex Regum Qeon for a playoff spot on July 10 at 14:15 CEST.

In the second match, EDward Gaming also started the series unsuccessfully, but managed to confidently take their map and finish the match with a victory of 2:1. 100 Thieves leave the tournament in 13th–16th place, taking $15,000. EDward Gaming continue the fight and will meet Gen.G Esports for a playoff slot on July 10 at 14:15 CEST.

Esports World Cup 2025 takes place from July 8 to 13 in Riyadh, at Boulevard Riyadh City. The tournament features 16 teams: four from each region — two from VCT 2025 Stage 1 and two from additional qualification. The prize pool is $1,250,000.
