magic qualifies for PGL Astana, K27’s chances for the Major are melting before our eyes

K27 have lost the right to make a mistake in the fight for a spot at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major 2026 and now must shine at MPKBK CIS LAN Season 4

The magic lineup won the PGL Astana 2026 Europe Closed Qualifier, defeating K27 in a best-of-five final and earning a ticket to the tournament in Astana in May.

For K27, this series was a blow to their frantic chase for VRS points. The team took a 2:0 lead in maps and were up 11:8 on the third, but lost in overtime, then squandered a 10:5 advantage on Overpass and lost Anubis, allowing magic to complete the comeback 3:2.

PGL Astana 2026 will be the first tier‑1 tournament for magic since the lineup was formed at the beginning of the year.

The defeat cost K27 three positions in the VRS ranking and pushed them even further away from the invite zone for Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major 2026. Nevertheless, Aleksey xeedo Mikulich’s squad still has a chance: the team has already reached the playoffs of MPKBK CIS LAN Season 4 after a 2:0 victory over 1win and now needs a deep run through the bracket in Moscow and favorable results from their rivals in order to still make it to Cologne.
